A Runner’s Alphabet—D Is for Dynamic
D is for dynamic.
Running is dynamic! As you move along, your body responds dynamically:
Your heart rate increases
Your body rotates around the central axis of your spine
Your breathing automatically adapts to your pace
You settle into a consistent cadence
All of these things should act together for a satisfying running experience. If you’re experiencing trouble in one or other of these areas, or even more than one, slow down and observe as best you can.
If you can’t seem to catch your breath, maybe you’re running too fast.
If your feet don’t seem to be taking your weight evenly, listen more carefully and adjust as you run.
D can stand for a lot of other things: determination, discipline, drive. I’m sure you have your own ideas.
Once you begin to notice, you’ll make all kinds of DISCOVERIES about how you run!
Please feel free to send me any questions you might have. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
AND if you don’t want to miss my next blog on how to get fit and stay happily fit, sign up on my mailing list to get it by e-mail the moment I publish it.
