A Runner’s Alphabet—H Is for Heart
is for heart.
One of the big benefits of running is that it’s very good for your heart. Running elevates your heart rate, and the long-lasting benefit is that your resting heart rate will be lower.
But did you know that you have two hearts? Besides your anatomical heart, how often do you remember the heart that we all want to bring to our running every time we’re on the roads—and to everything else that we love to do?
None of us can have a perfect run every single time, simply because none of us is perfect. But I find it helps if I approach running—or anything else I do—with a good heart, especially about myself.
So remember to exercise both your hearts when you’re on the road!
H can stand for a lot of other things: health, habit, happiness, healing, hope. I’m sure you have your own ideas.
Please feel free to send me any questions you might have. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
