This is a three-session package. Here’s how the lessons work:

Lesson 1: I’ll make a very brief (few seconds) video as you run. Then we’ll both watch it to evaluate where you’re strong and where we can make improvements to your form, gait, stride, and so on. No one but you and I will see this video.

I’ll introduce F. M. Alexander’s discovery of how the head balances at the top of the spine. This balance affects every other system in the body and is important to doing all of our activities without pain and strain:

  • Walking and running
  • Warming up and stretching
  • Texting
  • Working at a computer
  • Doing ordinary things around the house

 

This will involve my gently putting my hands on you. I’ll work with you to find where and how you’re holding excess tension that interferes with your day-to-day activities.

Lesson 2: We’ll continue the process we started in Lesson 1.

We’ll study the differences between models of walking and running and how they affect your running style.

If you wish, I’ll be glad to film you as you run again.

I’ll work with you on overall form to find where and how you’re holding excess tension that specifically interferes with your running. Again, this will involve my gently putting my hands on you to guide you.

We’ll talk about what you do to warm up and how you cool down and stretch. I’ll also show you some easy warm-up activities and other drills.

Lesson 3: We’ll review Lessons 1 and 2 to put together everything we’ve worked on. I’ll film you one last time, and again we can look at it and talk about whatever we observe.

I’ll also introduce the Zen workout, which you can integrate into your scheduled run or as an alternative on days when you don’t want to go all-out.

These sessions are for you! At any time, during any of these lessons, I’ll be glad to answer any questions or work with any issues that are important to you.

After Lesson 3, I’ll send your video(s) to you.

Fees and Terms

This course is a three-lesson package. If you take all three lessons within five weeks: $275.00. This is a flat fee for all three lessons combined.

If you take longer than three weeks, I charge an extra $25.00 per late lesson.
